If you require an urgent appointment please ask your General Practitioner to telephone the practice directly.
Due to the nature of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, emergencies often arise. Where possible you will be advised of any delays. However, this is not always possible and we apologise for any unplanned delays. To facilitate good communication ensure your details are up to date with your current home and mobile telephone numbers.
Fee’s:
We do not provide a bulk billing service, therefore, our patients are charged a fee for each consultation, some of which may be rebatable through Medicare. However, Dr Orford’s fees are well below the Australian Medical Association’s recommendations.
For births and surgical procedures, Dr Orford participates in the ‘No-gap’ scheme offered by most private health insurance providers. If your fund is one which we have agreed to partner with, the Practice will invoice your health fund directly. However, because of the complicated nature of medical billing, please check your level of cover with your health insurer prior to any procedure.
NB – if you are provided with a service by an Anaesthetist, Pathologist, etc, whilst you are a private patient in hospital, you may be billed independently by them for this service. Our reception staff will discuss this with you.
The Pregnancy Management Fee is a fee charged by all Obstetricians for the management of pregnancy progressing past 20 weeks. It reimburses the Obstetrician the cost of being on call 24 hours a day, answering telephone queries from or about you, to cover medical indemnity insurance and to co-ordinate your care. A portion of the fee may be reimbursed by Medicare.
Because of the complex nature of medical billing, please contact the practice directly for an estimate of potential fees involved with your treatment or surgery.
Payment is required at the time of your appointments. We accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, eftpos, personal and bank cheques. We have Medicare online claiming as a service for all patients. If you have not registered your details with Medicare you can bring in your bank account details on the day and we will process this for you.
