Dr Orford is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). He obtained this qualification in Jan 2001, having completed the six years of specialist training required, and has been in private practice since then.
Our practice strives to achieve the best health outcome we can. This begins with good communication, provision of information regarding options of care, and then delivering that care expertly.
Many gynaecological conditions can be managed conservatively (without surgery), and there are increasing non-surgical options available. These can include:
- changing lifestyle factors,
- use of allied health practitioners such as physiotherapists, and medical therapy (medications).
If these treatments are not sufficient then surgery may be an option.
Dr Orford has spent over 15 years now developing his laparoscopic (keyhole) surgical skills, and range of procedures, and has now performed many advanced laparoscopic procedures. In 2005 he founded SALS.

Dr Orford has taught (and continues to teach) registrars ( trainees of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) since 2001, with emphasis on teaching advanced laparoscopy to the senior trainees, in their last year of training before becoming specialists. He also regularly hosts Laparoscopic Hysterectomy workshops at The Buderim Private Hospital, where 1-2 Gynaecological specialist colleagues can attend his theatre sessions to learn, through observation and assisting, the techniques involved in performing this procedure.

Dr Orford offers “mesh free” surgery for bladder incontinence and prolapse – avoiding the potential complications of mesh such as infection, erosion, ongoing pain, and the need for removal.
