Fees:
We do not offer a bulk billing service; therefore, our patients are charged a fee for each consultation, with some of these fees eligible for a Medicare rebate. However, Dr Orford’s fees are set well below the Australian Medical Association’s recommended schedule.
Payment is required at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS, and personal or bank cheques.
Medicare Online Claiming is available for your convenience. If you have not yet registered your bank details with Medicare, you are welcome to bring them with you on the day, and we will process your claim directly.
For Births and Surgical Procedures, Dr Orford participates in the “Known Gap” scheme offered by most private health insurance providers. If your private health fund is one we have partnered with, they will cover a major portion of the costs associated with any gynaecological surgery you may require.
There will be some out of pocket expenses for surgical procedures. Our administration staff will assist you in obtaining detailed fee estimates from Buderim Private Hospital and any other specialists involved in your care.
Please note – whilst you are a private patient in hospital, you may also require the services of an Anaesthetist, Surgical Assistant, and/or Pathologist. These providers will bill you independently. Our administration team will discuss this with you, and informed financial consent will be obtained from you prior to any procedures being carried out.
Due to the complex nature of medical billing, we encourage you to contact the practice directly for a personalised estimate of the fees related to your treatment or surgery.
The Pregnancy Management Fee is a fee charged by all Obstetricians for the ongoing management of pregnancies beyond 20 weeks. It reimburses the Obstetrician for the costs associated with being on call 24 hours a day, responding to telephone queries, coordinating your care, and maintaining medical indemnity insurance. A portion of this fee may be reimbursed by Medicare.
